What's Your Word?

To All Parents and Guardians of Children,

Tonight I engaged in a heart-felt conversation with my two children about the importance of having a safe word to use in the event they find themselves in trouble and need to let us know without risking their safety. Since my children were small, we have had a "code" word they must ask for when or if someone they don't know claims to be picking them up for us, but in recent news, there was a botched robbery where the poor girl actually phoned her parents to ask how to get cash from a credit card, but didn't hint of any sign of trouble. Unfortunately, for her parents they did not know she had been robbed in her vehicle and the assailant was forcing her to drive around to different ATM machines attempting to get money. Well, now she is dead and I just wonder what that poor child must have been going through and how awful the parents must feel realizing the last words they heard from their daughter were cries for help. I'm completely heartbroken by this senseless act upon this young girl and her family now grieving her loss. SO, WHAT WILL BE YOUR SAFE WORD? My children will be discussing a word and we will be deciding tomorrow. I am also encouraging them to tell all their friends to discuss this with their parent, relative or guardian as soon as possible. Don't wait to create your safe word before it's too late. God Bless and be safe.
